I was visiting my sister and attended the 9am Mass on a Sunday in Feb. It had just snowed, and the entire parking lot was plowed and salted, so great job! The first thing I noticed was the layout, which is a fan/half circle shape with the pews. The farther towards the back, the more of a slant the ground has, so you can see. You have to get a bulletin at the beginning of church because it acts as your book with the readings and songs printed in it. I would honestly say that they were too small of font for most people to read. They have a Spanish mass too, so they had really nice books in the pew backs that were written in Spanish. Actually, the pages have English on the left and Spanish on the right, so you could follow along in that book too. The pews are cushioned... which is not a traditional Catholic thing. But I hope they vacuum them at some point. There was a priest and an associate priest today. I thought the pace was good and the homily was good. They have a huge cry room and it was being utilized by lots of families. They have 2 huge, beautiful stained glass windows which was fishers of men. I was a disappointed by the music though. They don't have an organ, which is fine. This was the mass time that the whole choir was not at. (Idk what mass time the choir sings). So it was one person from the choir who sang everything into the microphone. I have done this at my previous church and it's a lot of pressure...but that wasn't the problem. Hardly anyone around me was singing, and I was in the middle section. The songs they chose were okay I guess. And my biggest pet peeve is at the end of mass when we are singing the final song...people started to put their coats on and leave the pews. Like you can't give 2 more minutes to sing to god? Sorry I forgot to take photos :(
Was visiting in the area and attended Mass here last weekend. Very nice priest, deacon and several members who spoke to us. Lovely church too.
We were in town for the weekend and went to Mass at St. Peter’s because they have a cry room. The homily was very thought-provoking and the congregation welcoming. I loved that the St. Michael prayer and Memorare were said after the closing song.
The priest lost me when he started to support being hateful, cruel, intolerant, impolite and being disrespectful to trans children - the lgbtq community- minorities and vulnerable populations.. being politically correct is not wrong it is part of being a member of a polite society.. Homily on freedom doesn’t mean bigots should be accepted and supported or hateful actions should be acceptable to this priest.. shame on him. This is why I have struggled with this church the priest hateful views come through in his sermons...
